The Monte Carlo Masters has had its moments of upsets and shockers during the whole tournament. This has been an ATP tournament filled with a lot of twists and turns. It is still good to see some of the top players still live up to their expectations and give great performances in the tournaments. It will be interesting to see who will end the tournament with one of the most iconic titles in the clay season with the knockouts coming into play.
One of the matches we were interested in witnessing was the match between Novak Djokovic and Lorenzo Musetti. This was a match since Mussetti was also one of the players to beat him in the tournament last season. Even the world number 1 beat the Italian in two straight sets, it was not really an easy match for the Serbian. The first set was slightly intense which finally went in Djoko’s favour as he broke Musetti’s service winning it 7-5. The second set on the other hand was not much of a spectacle as Djokovic went on to win the set comfortably with a score of 6-3.
Djokovic and the hostile crowd
Djokovic during the game had a really terrible argument with the umpire over a call he made. This led to the crowd booing him throughout the game after the incident. The hostility was so much that now one could imagine a legend like Djokovic has ever had in his career. The Serbian powerhouse still handled the hostile crowd as he went on to wave his hands around imagining it to be a musical. Djoko also went on to make a statement saying “I dedicate this victory to the orchestra”. It made sense that the boos did not affect them as they stopped immediately after Djokovic waved his hands around.
This was one of those unusually entertaining matches that we never knew would go down this way. Djokovic will now be playing the quarter-finals against Australia’s Alex De Minaur and it is great to see that his quest for his third title is still on. Djokovic will still be one of the favourites to win the entire tournament looking at how his form has been going so far.
