Former tennis star Brad Gilbert has lauded world number one Jannik Sinner's magnificent display after his comeback in the Italian Open 2025. Notably, Jannik Sinner had a great start to the year as he won the Australian Open 2025 title after defeating Alexander Zverev in the final showdown. He then accepted a three-month doping ban before returning to the Italian Open 2025.
Sinner has showcased his beast form when he toppled Madrid Open champion Casper Ruud in the quarterfinal clash of the Rome Masters and stormed into the semifinals, where he will be facing Tommy Paul.
The Italian sensation showcased his fearless approach in his quarterfinal clash when he defeated Ruud in just 64 minutes of the game and won with a scoreline of 6-0, 6-1, sending big shock waves to the tennis world ahead of the French Open 2025.
Gilbert, who has previously worked with Andy Murray, Coco Gauff, and Andre Agassi, felt that Italian star Jannik Sinner would have won three or four more tournaments if he had not faced the ban.
“Had Sin City not been suspended and definitely didn’t deserve any, he probably would have won another 3-4 tournaments and had a big lead on the race,” Brad Gilbert wrote on X.

Just few days back, Gilbert stated that Sinner needs to be careful while making his comeback. The California-born star feels that Sinner should not get too hard on himself and should not get hurt if he results in losing matches in Rome. However, the legendary player feels that the Italian sensation and current world number one will be one of the favourites to win the second Grand Slam of the year.
“If you are out through injury, it’s probably easier [than being suspended]. This is a much more difficult scenario to come back from because, mentally, how do you keep practicing for this?. They have to be careful when they come back that they don’t go too hard; you don’t want to get hurt. But I expect by Paris that he is going to be ready and he will be one of the top three favourites to win that tournament,” stated Gilbert.
