Italian Tennis Federation President Angelo Binaghi recently revealed that early impressions of the current world number one, Jannik Sinner, reminded him of Venus Williams. Notably, the 64-year-old tennis legend noticed one particular weakness in Sinner that reminded him of the seven-time Grand Slam Champion.
The 23-year-old star had one of the greatest seasons by an ATP player in 2024, winning the two Grand Slam titles with the likes of the Australian Open and the USA Open, and ended this year by clinching the ATP Finals. However, the Italian has maintained his humble persona and stepped very rarely into the public.

In the same vein, Binaghi has shared his early impressions of the two-time Grand Slam champion, stating that he was very impressed by Sinner's simplicity. The Italy-born tennis legend revealed that he met the 23-year-old during the Next Gen ATP Finals back in 2019, where he was the first player from his country to win the showpiece event. The 64-year-old tennis legend further talked about Sinner's pragmatic and tactical skills on the court, which makes him one of the exceptional players to watch out for.

He reminded me a bit of Venus Williams, incredible potential, but athletic difficulties in covering the court: Binaghi
“We saw each other in the locker room during the Next Gen ATP Finals in 2019. He was the first Italian to win this competition, and so I went to congratulate him. He reminded me a bit of Venus Williams: incredible potential, but athletic difficulties in covering the court. Now in his movement, he is a rocket, he has improved his service and he is also incisive at the net. He struck me for his education and simplicity," Italian tennis chief, Angelo Binaghi, says as being quoted by The Tennis Letter.
