The 14-time champion Rafael Nadal is all set to face Alexander Zverev, while Andy Murray is set to take on former champion Stan Wawrinka in the opening round of the French Open, which commences on Sunday.

Notably, Murray will need to overcome 2015 winner Wawrinka in his first Paris appearance in four years, as this is likely to be the last time both players play at Roland Garros as they announced their retirements later this year.

It seems that this is a rematch of Nadal vs. Zverev's 2022 semifinal encounter, which ended with the German injuring ligaments in his right ankle. Nadal, who is unseeded like Murray, will be making his first appearance in an event that he has dominated since taking home his record-tying 14th title two years ago.

Meanwhile, defending Australian Open winner Jannik Sinner faces American Christopher Eubanks, while two-time Grand Slam champion and last year's losing semi-finalist Carlos Alcaraz begins against a qualifier.

The defending champion, Iga Swiatek, will play a qualifier or a lucky loser in the women's draw. If she advances, she might play the unseeded Naomi Osaka in the second round. In addition, Lucia Bronzetti will be the first opponent Osaka has to overcome in her continued return to tennis.

On the other hand, Erika Andreeva will be up against second seed Aryna Sabalenka, and third seed Coco Gauff will also be up against a qualifier or lucky loser.
