Tennis sensation Fernando Verdasco is all set to retire from professional tennis at the Qatar ExxonMobil Open 2025 in Doha in the forthcoming week, marking the end of his illustrious career. The Spain-born star is set to partner with Serbian legend Novak Djokovic in the doubles event. The 41-year-old legend took to social media, showcasing his excitement to play alongside the 24-time Grand Slam winner in his final tour.
“After so many incredible years on the ATP Tour, the time has come for my final tournament at the Qatar ExxonMobil Open. And what better way to finish than playing doubles with my friend Novak Djokovic, a true legend of our sport and one of the best athletes of all time. Thank you everyone that has been there for me during all my career in the good and in the bad times. Let’s make this week unforgettable,” Verdasco wrote.

The tennis legend has achieved a career-high rank of number seven in singles and number eight in doubles, winning seven tour titles and 559 tour-level matches. The star player also contributed to three Davis Cup wins for his nation.
Known for his tactical skill and pragmatic style on the tennis court, Verdasco stylized a heavy topspin forehand and a sharp crosscourt backhand to create trouble and challenges for his opponents in the game. The star player's best Grand Slam performance came in the 2009 Australian Open, where he made it to the semifinals before losing to Rafael Nadal.
