Tennis star Coco Gauff has revealed that the sport needs to evolve in terms of technology after her controversial incident in the semi-final game of the Roland Garros. Notably, the Armerican-born star suffered a straight-set defeat in the semi-final game against world number one Iga Swiatek on June 6 in Paris, which ended her dream run to claim the title.

The US Open winner was recently spotted in heavy tears during her game with the Polish star. Notably, the umpire overruled a serve from defending champion Iga Swiatek during the game. Following the same, Gauff was spotted lashing out at the umpire and told them to know the rules of the game first as it was the semi-final of the Grand Slam and the incident occurred on both occasions. However, the umpire ignored her in the game, which made her very emotional after the match.

The USA-born star feels that there should be multiple umpires to make decisions, like in other sports. The 20-year-old star feels that other games have multiple decision-makers, which allows them to make the right decision. However, Gauff feels that she was completely right in the game while claiming that the techniques should evolve into tennis to avoid such mistakes.

I definitely think as a sport we have to evolve, and we have the technology: Coco Gauff

“100%. I think tennis is the only sport where not only we don't have the VR system, but a lot of times the decisions are made by one person. In other sports, there are usually multiple refs in making a decision. I know the US Open brought some of it last year. I know we used it in our doubles at one point. I definitely think at this point, it's almost ridiculous that we don't have it. Not just speaking because that happened to me, but I just think every sport has it," Gauff said at her press conference after the match.

“There are so many decisions that are made, and it sucks as a player to go back or online and you see that you were completely right, and it's, like, what does that give you in that moment. I definitely think as a sport we have to evolve, and we have the technology," she added further.
