Tennis star Taylor Fritz defeated Hubert Hurkacz in the final thriller to win the 2025 United Cup title. Fritz won the men's singles after Coco Gauff defeated Iga Swiatek in the women's singles to guide the USA to win their second title in the history of the tournament. Earlier in the women's singles, the world number three, Coco Gauff, thwarted Polish star Iga Swiatek in the 2025 United Cup Finals on January 5 at Ken Rosewall Arena and boosted the chances of the USA to make it to the final thrillers of the showpiece event.

Coming back to semis here, the USA successfully placed themselves in the final thriller to set their clash against Poland. After WTA number three Coco Gauff began her country's semifinal tie against Czechia with a resounding win against Karolina Muchova, star player Tomas Machac seems to be in a great position to level the tie for his country against Taylor Fritz.

However, from serving for the game 7-6, 5-3, the star player suffered defeat in the three back-to-back matches and then abruptly retired due to cramps and left the knee pain on the ground itself.

“He said he’d been cramping for a couple games already. I didn’t notice, but yeah. He was moving pretty well, but I guess he was playing through it, fighting. It’s really humid in here. That’s something I was thinking was a possibility if I could win that set; take it to a third. I was thinking maybe someone might start cramping later on. It’s tough conditions; it was a physical match. It’s great to be back. That was a crazy match, very physical and it’s not the way that I guess I want to win,” Fritz said in his on-court interview
