Tennis star Carlos Alcaraz advanced to the men's singles semifinal of the French Open 2024 as the young player went on to outclass Stefanos Tsitsipas in the quarterfinal game, which took place on June 4. Notably, the world number three thrashed his Greek opponent 6-3, 7-6 (7-3), 6-4 on Tuesday, June 4, at Philippe-Chatrier in a time of two hours and fifteen minutes.

Alcaraz got the better of Tsitsipas, earning two break points for his serve. He scored 82 per cent of the points (14 out of 17) when he served well on his opening serve. Tsitsipas also had a double fault after he was caught napping on his second serve.

Meanwhile, Carlos Alcaraz is now set to face Jannik Sinner in the semifinals of the game, which is set to take place on June 7. The 21-year-old was asked what he liked the most while facing Jannik Sinner in the clay courts. The Spaniard praised the shots played by the Sinner in the game. Notably, Jannik Sinner is now the world number one, as Novak Djokovic pulled out of the marquee event after suffering injuries in the fourth round of the Roland Garros.

I think it is the hardest thing to face Jannik: Carlos Alcaraz

“Looking ahead to playing Jannik, what would you say is the hardest part of playing against him, and what do you enjoy the most about your matches with Jannik?” Carlos Alcaraz was asked.

“Well, you have to run like it is a marathon, you know, side-to-side. I think he holds nothing back. Everything he does, he does it perfectly. The way that he hits the ball is unbelievable. The way he moves, it's really, really well. He push you to the limit in every ball, in every point. I think it is the hardest thing to face Jannik Sinner. At the same time, I love that. I love these kind of matches. I love this kind of challenge, you know, to have a really difficult battle against him. The previous matches that we've played I think it was like that, and I love that," Carlos Alcaraz said.
