These two have had some great matches this season and are currently number 2 and number 3 in the ATP rankings. While Alcaraz got the better of the Serbian in Wimbledon, it was Djokovic who was victorious in the Olympics as he finally went on to win his first ever Gold medal in tennis.

Could Alcaraz overtake the Serbian before US Open?

There is no doubt that Alcaraz is once again having one of his best seasons so far but he is still below Sinner and Djokovic in the rankings which he will finally want to accomplish it. However Alcaraz has the opportunity to overtake Djokovic just before the US Open since both of them have officially withdrawn from the Canadian Open and have dropped some big points so far. However, with news of Djokovic withdrawing from Cincinnati as well has given a chance to Alcaraz to finally overtake Djokernole before the Grand Slam event.

Since Djokovic will not be trying to retain his title in Cincinnati he has dropped a total of 1000 points and with Alcaraz who will be featuring in the contest will have a chance to overtake Djokovic and become the World number 2. If the Spaniard manages to this it will give him even more confidence going forward in this season just before the Grand Slam event as well. This will be an opportunity that Alcaraz will surely not let go off at all.
