Tennis sensations Carlos Alcaraz and Aryna Sabalenka have been nominated for the prestigious Laureus World Sports Awards, marking a significant recognition of their achievements. Carlos, the world number three, has been nominated for the World Sportsman of the Year award following a magnificent 2024 season.

The Spaniard has won his third and fourth Grand Slam titles at the French Open and Wimbledon and later won Indian Wells and the China Open. The nomination is his second Laureus award, having previously won the Breakthrough of the Year award in 2023. The 21-year-old tennis star is set to compete against other global stars.

Conversely, WTA number one-ranked Aryna Sabalenka has been nominated for the World Sportswoman of the Year award. The 26-year-old tennis player's nomination is a testament to her convincing performance in 2024, where she won the US Open and Australian Open, alongside winning the Cincinnati and Wuhan Opens.

The Belarusian's success has placed her alongside the renowned athletes. This nomination showcases her consistent excellence and her position as a leading figure in women's tennis. The Laureus Awards, often known as the "Oscars of Sports," are highly considered for honoring the world's best athletes, and the star player's nomination reflects her status as one of the most accomplished athletes globally.
