Earlier, Elena Rybakina defeated Iva Jovic in the second round of the 2025 Australian Open before heading third round on January 16, Thursday. The Moscow-born star had a terrific start to the game as she won the opening set comfortably and maintained her dominance heading to the next set of the game to mark a straight-sets win over Jovic.

It's worth mentioning that the 25-year-old tennis player was visibly struggling to move and needed seven points to close out the victory. The former Wimbledon winner had several injury problems during the last year, struggling at several points with illness, fatigue, and a back issue.

The Kazakh-born star tried extremely hard to shorten the rallies and hit winners in an attempt to pace up the match. She is now set to face the winner between Danielle Collins and Madison Keys on Monday in the pre-quarters.

After the stunning win over Ukraine-born star, Rybakina has talked about the presence of her family on such WTA tours and how it helps her to cope with the situation. However, the 25-year-old revealed that she has been suffering from a back injury and now needs 'magic' after battling an injury win in the third round.

“It’s always good to have someone from the family. On court she doesn’t give me advice, but off court it’s good to spend some time. Honestly, I didn’t know how it would go. It came suddenly. It wasn’t easy. Not really. Hopefully my physio can do some magic," Elena Rybakina said after the win.
