WATCH: Andrey Rublev smash his racket in first round game of Wimbledon 2024

The game of Tennis has always been one of the most unpredictable games where we see some shocking results seeing some of the top-ranked players failing to get over the line. This does not only happen in the ATP but also in the Grand Slam tournaments, where even the best players in the world get a surprise from a lower-seeded player down the line.

One of the top-ranked players in the mix right now is none other than Andrey Rublev. The Russian came into this tournament as one of the higher seeded players and there was a lot expected from him. Unfortunately, Rublev suffered a horrible defeat against unseeded Francisco Comesana in the first round continuing his poor form this season.

Rublev and his infamous racket smashes

Rublev might not be in the best of form but we still expected him to win this game. Comesana already put him under pressure by winning the first set. From there Rublev might have won the next one, however, he was back to being his reckless self throughout the game, losing the next two sets. This also led to the World number 6 smashing his racket in frustration once again. This was an ugly sight to see from Rublev, who loses his composure once again while getting another early exit.

This was another poor performance by Rublev which shows how terrible his season has been in 2024. There was barely a moment where we saw a great performance by the 26-year-old, who has only won one title this season in Madrid. This was a glimpse of how much he has struggled to perform and has now faced another disappointing result in one of the biggest Grand Slam events.
