Former WWE Champion Kurt Angle was a guest on the Not Sam Wrestling podcast. The 1996 Olympic Gold Medallist called time on his legendary pro-wrestling career in the WrestleMania 35 event. Kurt Angle faced Baron Corbin in the event and lost the match to end his glittering career.

During the podcast, Angle revealed that he had pitched John’s Cena name as his favoured opponent. Vince McMahon though declined the request and wanted the former WWE Champion to face Baron Corbin in the biggest wrestling event.

Kurt Angle said, “I mean, I’m the one he had his first match. I wanted John [Cena] to be my retirement match. I don’t know if you knew that, but I requested that to Vince McMahon. ‘You’re gonna have to wait till next year because you have a program with Baron Corbin.’ So I was like, ‘Okay! I don’t think I can go another year, Vince!’ He said, Well, then it is what it is.”

Will Kurt Angle come back to wrestling and face John Cena during his retirement tour?

During the show, the host asked Angle if he was ready to come back for one final match against John Cena. The multiple-time WWE champion has already announced that 2025 will be his last year in professional wrestling.

Responding to this Angle said. “Listen, I’m sure if I made a call, I could make it happen. But there’s no way I can do it. But I would love to, you know, be one of John Cena’s retirement matches.”

The former WWE champion was also asked to shed light on a famous segment with Triple H during a WWE Raw 2018 segment. The current Creative head of WWE threw a punch at Angle as the latter went down to the mat in a funny manner.

Remembering the incident the former WWE champ said, “I did that on purpose. I went, and I overexaggerated so Triple H had time to hit me. But it was so bad, it looked like I didn’t plan it. It was horrible. That was pro wrestling, I guess, a gimmick. That’s what pro wrestlers would do. It’s like when they sell when they get hit in the stomach, and they turn around in a circle and come back to you. It’s like, ‘Why would they be turning in a circle?”
