Mariah May revealed the reason behind signing the contract with AEW. The star wrestler said how Tony Khan's narration of her story which could pan out with Toni Storm ensured her to sign a contract with the company. May said that she was always a big fan of big storylines and felt they played a key role in shaping her career rather than great matches.

Mariah May said that Tony's narration of the story fascinated her. May understood that she would be in the company for a big story and not for small matches that could not take her anywhere. She said Tony's plan for her ensured the signing was not merely because she had great momentum at the time before signing a contract with AEW.

Mariah said that she thought it was a great opportunity for her to work with a writer like RJ City. "It was like, we have a real plan for you, and it was something to sink my teeth into, and I’ve got to work really closely with RJ City, who’s such a talented writer, on this whole character and this whole story," said May in a recent interview.

She added that Tony Khan and Co. had special ideas for her, especially in terms of promos. May said it was great as it felt that she could be involved in the segments well. May remembered the narration of Tony suggesting she hit Toni Storm with a shoe and claimed it was natural for her as she used to do it in the past regularly.

"When it came to the video package, I feel like they have ideas for me, and then it’s great because I can contribute my own thing and make it feel more me, but I do stab people in the head with shoes on a regular basis, so it was pretty easy to pull into," added May in the interview as she felt her character was not difficult to be played.
