World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) fans were given a huge surprise on Saturday in the Backlash PLE. Noted wrestler Jeff Cobb made his WWE debut as he interfered in the United States championship match featuring Jacob Fatu, LA Knight, Damien Priest, and Drew McIntyre. The former New Japan Pro Wrestling champion shocked the world by taking out LA Knight much to Jacob Fatu’s shock.
PW Insider reported how Cobb’ debut was kept hidden from rest of the WWE locker room. The reports carried by PW Insider stated that ‘Cobb had to change between 4-5 flights’ to make it to the event. Once the wrestler reached St. Louis, Cobb was kept hidden ahead of his debut during the event.
The move seems to have worked since Cobb’ sudden appearance drew a loud gasp from the audience. In the last Backlash event, Bloodline’s Solo Sikoa and Tama Tonga took on Kevin Owens and Randy Orton. Just like this edition, Backlash 2024 saw the debut of Tonga Loa who helped the Bloodline win the match.
It is expected that Sikoa, Cobb, and Fatu will be part of a new version of the Bloodline faction. Cobb has a huge experience in the Pro wrestling industry and also has been a freestyle wrestler having participated in the 2004 Athens Olympics. The 42-year-old has been part of Lucha Underground, NJPW, Ring of Honor, and All Elite Wrestling before his WWE debut.
Bloodline story takes a new turn
With Tama Tonga and his brother Tonga Loa out with injuries, the Bloodline seems to have found a new member. Solo Sikoa took to his social media handle and wrote, “Welcome Jeff Cobb”. The sudden debut also seemed to have caught Jacob Fatu by surprise which was seen at the end of the match.
It is believed that Cobb will be part of the Smackdown brand after his WWE debut on Saturday. Fans are eagerly waiting to see how the next chapter in the Bloodline storyline plays out after Cobb has joined forces with Sikoa and Fatu.
In other matches, John Cena who is set to retire at the end of the year, beat hometown favorite Randy Orton to retain his title. The 17-time champion then put R Truth through the table during the press conference.
