Dave Meltzer has reported that the big AEW title match for the CMLL Women’s World Title between Willow Nightingale and Kris Statlander has been cancelled. The reason behind the move is yet unclear but the match will now be a non-title match.

Noted journalist Dave Meltzer said “So the Willow match with Kris is not a championship match. It was originally supposed to be a title match and I think because of all this – maybe because of the anniversary show thing, the agreement was they wanted to announce it before so it wasn't a title match”

The noted AEW journalist also said on the Wrestling Observer radio “maybe CMLL didn't want the title in a street fight? I don't know but whatever it was, it was supposed to be a title match and it's not a title match on Saturday."

Mercedes Mone names dream opponents

Current AEW champion Mercedes Mone has named her four dream opponents. During her chat with Beyond the Fame podcast as quoted by Fightful select “Mariah May I would love to face her. Toni Storm is incredible, Thunder Rosa, Kris Statlander, and Jamie Hayter just made her return at All In, so I'd love to step in the ring with her”

Mone also said “The dreams are endless at AEW. It's not only the AEW roster, I also get to face the Stardom roster, and the CMLL roster. AEW is going global. Any woman who wants to come after my championships, I'm always ready,"

The Kris Statlander versus Willow Nightingale match was supposed to be held during AEW All Out 2024. The latest move to make this a non-title contest has taken the fans by surprise who were getting ready to see a huge match.

AEW All Out is set to be held in Chicago, this was the same event last year when CM Punk was fired. Will Ospreay take on PAC for the AEW International title. The Young Bucks will take on Blackpool Combat Club. Bryan Danielson will defend his title against Jack Perry. Hangman Adam Page takes on Swerve Strickland in a street fight.
