As India celebrates its 78th Independence Day today, Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) stars Pardeep Narwal and Maninder Singh took part in a special flag-hoisting ceremony. At the Mumbai Public School, a government school supported by Disney Star in collaboration with Yuva Unstoppable, both stars hoisted the Tricolour.

The event highlighted kabaddi's deep connection to Indian culture, with both players engaging with students and celebrating the sport that has been a part of India's identity long before independence. Following the flag hoisting, Pardeep and Maninder participated in a lively kabaddi session with the school's team.

The session was followed by a gesture of goodwill, as the two players presented the school with gifts and tokens of appreciation on behalf of the Pro Kabaddi League. The morning's festivities concluded with a cultural program organized by the students.

“Kabaddi is in everyone’s blood”, says Maninder Singh

After the event, Dubki King Pardeep Narwal expressed his pride in seeing the continued interest in kabaddi among the younger generation. “Kabaddi is a very important part of India’s culture, and it has been played since before independence as well. I am very happy to see that so many kids are still very interested in the sport," Pardeep stated.

Meanwhile, Maninder Singh echoed these sentiments, highlighting kabaddi's widespread popularity across India. He also acknowledged the role of the Pro Kabaddi League in enhancing the sport's appeal and development, saying, “Kabaddi is in everyone’s blood and the love people show for the sport keeps us motivated."

The event also underscored the impact of Disney Star's School Transformation Program, a CSR initiative in partnership with Yuva Unstoppable. Over the past four years, this program has been instrumental in transforming government schools across India, including Mumbai Public Schools.

Through interventions such as STEM labs, digital classrooms, sports facilities, and solar electrification, the initiative aims to reduce dropout rates and promote a brighter, more technologically advanced future for students.

As PKL Season 11 approaches, fans eagerly anticipate the Player Auction on August 15 and 16. In the auction top kabaddi players, including Pardeep, Maninder, Pawan Sehrawat and Fazal Atrachali, will be up for bids. The auction will be broadcast live on Star Sports Network and streamed on Disney+ Hotstar, starting at 7 PM on August 15.
