India’s Manu Bhaker has created history in the ongoing Paris Olympics 2024 by becoming the first Indian woman shooter to win a medal in the history of the Olympics. Bhaker secured a bronze medal while competing in the women's 10m air pistol finals by accumulating a total of 221.7 points.

This was also India’s opening medal in the ongoing Olympic games. The gold and silver medals went to the South Korean duo of Jin Ye Ho and Yeji Kim respectively. Bhaker talked about her performance after the finals and seemed quite pleased with it. Bhaker also revealed that she reads the Bhagavad Gita a lot and quoted a line from the holy book.

Watch the video here:

“The entire team has worked really hard. I feel surreal, I did a good job. I put in a lot of effort. Even in the final shot, I was fighting with all the energy that I had. This was a bronze. I am really grateful I could win the bronze for India. Maybe I will do better next time."

“I read the Bhagavad Gita quite a lot. What was going through my mind was to just do what I was meant to, supposed to do. Just leave whatever else to destiny. You can’t control the outcome. In Gita, Lord Krishna tells Arjuna to focus on the karma and not the outcome of the karma. That was running through my mind, to just to my task."

After Tokyo I was very disappointed: Manu Bhaker

Post the gun malfunction during the Tokyo Olympics, Bhaker was really heartbroken and disheartened with her performance. But, she evidently made an extraordinary comeback and proved her worth by winning the bronze for the country this time.
