India’s rising star in Badminton, Lakshya Sen was seen crying after losing his Bronze Medal match earlier today. The Team India superstar won the first set but succumbed in the remaining two sets, which meant that the Bronze medal had to go to Malaysia's Lee Zii Jia.
At regular intervals, Sen was being attended to by the medical team after blood was seen coming out of his right elbow. The heavy strapping on his right arm meant that he would not be able to use his full power while smashing the shuttle. Lee Zii Jia, on the other hand, took advantage of this and looked to capitalize on this amazing opportunity as he used his smashes to perfection.

India would have won its fourth medal during the Paris Olympics if Sen defeated Lee in his match. The country has only won bronze medals thus far, with two coming from Manu Bhaker and the other one coming from Swapnil. Even though, it was a heart-breaking defeat for Sen, he has shown the potential that he can perform at the biggest stage of them all and would be raring to get the gold medal in four years time.
What happened to Lakshya Sen during semi-finals at Paris Olympics 2024?
Lakshya Sen, who is twenty-two years old, led Viktor Axelsen 20-17 during the opening game of their semifinal match. The former Olympic champion Axelsen, though, was able to level the score at 20-20 and go on to win the opening game 22-20. Sen had a 7-0 lead in the subsequent game, but Axelsen rallied and won the semifinal with two straight games. Before making a comeback to get to another Olympic final, the two-time medallist Danish player subsequently admitted that Sen had dominated much of the match.
Lakshya Sen became the first male shuttler from India to make it to the Olympic semi-finals in Paris, setting a milestone prior to his bronze medal game on Monday evening. Only Saina Nehwal along with PV Sindhu had advanced to the semifinals and taken home medals previously.
