Guido Rodriguez, a Real Betis midfielder, is said to have accepted a pre-contract with Barcelona and is expected to join the team next month. Rodriguez had been waiting for an offer to come from Barcelona for some time now, and the most recent update is provided by Gaston Edul, who claims the deal is finalised.

The Argentine is claimed to have completed a pre-contract agreement with the Catalans and is expected to join them next month on free transfer from Betis. Rodriguez is anticipated to replace Oriol Romeu in the team, with the midfielder set to come back to Girona after a difficult season with Xavi's side.

Barcelona is still linked with several midfielders, including Joshua Kimmich and Martin Zubimendi, while they look to return to the 1:1 rule during the summer. Since Sergio Busquets' departure to Inter Miami, Barcelona has struggled with finding a player who can perform the duties of the defensive midfielder while adhering to the club's distinctive style of play.

The addition of Oriol Romeu from Girona failed to pay off, and Xavi Hernandez's choice to move centre-back Andreas Christensen did not prove enough to save the 'Cules' from floundering in midfield this season. The FC Barcelona board continues to be working hard to locate a defensive midfielder who matches the club's ideology and whose move is reasonable due to the precarious circumstances the Catalan club is currently going through.

“The target for next season is to have every position covered” : Xavi

Xavi Hernandez has pinpointed the main position where Barcelona has fallen short this season. La Blaugrana is trying to finish second in the final round, as Real Madrid's La Liga trophy defence comes to an end. The manager has noted the lack of an experienced holding midfielder in his team, which has left a gaping void since Sergio Busquets' departure.

Xavi said, “We’ve played many games without a natural defensive midfield pivot and that has damaged our season”, as per quotes from Marca. When we have picked Oriol (Romeu) or Andreas (Christensen) we’ve competed better. But, it’s a coaching error. This lack of dominance in midfield has weighed heavily on us. The target for next season is to have every position covered by two players.”
