Rumours have surfaced from Argentina's local media that Enzo Fernandez had been playing despite a hernia issue for the past year and needs surgery to fix it.

It has been unclear if Enzo will have the procedure done at the conclusion of the current campaign in order to keep playing for Chelsea despite his discomfort. However, there's now some disagreement among local sources over whether Enzo will indeed undergo the surgery sooner; one source even says it will take place today.

There are rumours that Enzo will be having the operation earlier since he wants to represent Argentina in the Copa America this summer. Should he undergo it now, or sooner, it indicates that his recuperation from the surgery will prevent him from playing for Chelsea this season. Although it's a significant choice, Hernan Castillo, tje local reporter, claims that Enzo will undergo the operation today itself.

As of yet, neither Chelsea nor any English media outlet have released an official statement. According to Gaston Edul, one of the other local sources, Enzo hasn't actually made a decision yet. Who knows when the procedure will be performed, but it is sure everyone will learn more about Enzo today.

The midfielder was highly praised for his part in Argentina's 2022 World Cup victory in Qatar when he came to Stamford Bridge. The 23-year-old was awarded the young player award for the tournament following his nation's penalty shootout victory over France in the final. The following month, Chelsea defeated many other clubs to sign him.

His team's past and present league positions are indicative of his individual stats. Chelsea struggled to finish 12th in the 2022–2023 season and now sit ninth this year around, with their prospects of playing in Europe hanging by a thread in spite of owner Todd Boehly investing more than £1 billion in his 17-month reign in London so far.
