A new development has emerged in the ongoing discussion between UEFA's President and Real Madrid as he shares his perspective on the Ballon d'Or race, highlighting Rodri from Manchester City as a deserving winner.

Since 2022, Ballon d'Or awards have been evaluated based on a season that runs from July 1 to June 30, rather than the traditional calendar year from January to December. In this context, voters determined that Rodri Hernández had a standout season compared to Vinícius Júnior, which led to him receiving the award

UEFA President feels Rodri isthe deserving winner

In a recent interview, Aleksander Ceferin pointed out the differences in on-field conduct between players, noting how Vinicius Junior's tantrums to referees, opposition players, and fans contrast with Rodri's professionalism.

Ceferin emphasized that Rodri, playing as a holding midfielder, has not only contributed defensively but has also been impressive in creating chances, even outperforming  forwards like Vinicius Junior in this aspect. He mentioned that Rodri has scored 12 goals this season, showcasing his well-rounded contributions to the team.

“They should review Vinícius's season themselves to see what he does with referees, players, and fans in every match. A holding midfielder who hasn't lost in 72 matches, created more goals than Vinícius, and scored 12 goals!” he said.

UEFA and Real Madrid Hostilities

UEFA addressed Real Madrid's concerns this Wednesday regarding the claim of a "conspiracy" that may have impacted Vinicius Jr.'s chances of winning the Ballon d'Or. Although UEFA does not participate in the voting process, it played a role in organizing this year’s prestigious award. The club has shared with the international media its belief that UEFA's involvement may have influenced the outcome in a way that affected the Brazilian player's candidacy for the award presented by France Football.

In response to the recent statements, the governing body of European football took a firm stance, addressing concerns effectively. While the organization did not have a direct role in the voting process, it actively collaborated this year with a renowned French magazine to facilitate the event. A panel of 100 correspondents from 'France Football,' representing the top 100 federations in the FIFA rankings, was responsible for selecting the winners of the Ballon d'Or, with the exception of the Kopa Trophy.
