Manchester City played a friendly against AC Milan in New York on Saturday night as part of their ongoing preparations for the forthcoming Premier League season. Due to featuring in Euros 2024, many players from Manchester City were not available for the game.

During the pre-season, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola named many young players who will play alongside big stars like Erling Haaland, Jack Grealish etc.  However Zlatan Ibrahimovic retired last year, and he still has a close advising role with Milan. The 42-year-old former striker appeared on City TV, the team's in-house channel, and was involved in media responsibilities both before and after the game.

The former Manchester United player took advantage of the occasion to make fun of his former opponents, and City undoubtedly regretted inviting him. In 2009 Zlatan Ibrahimovic joined Barcelona and Pep Guardiola was manager of the club during that time. In his first season, Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored 21 goals for Barcelona and won the La Liga title, FIFA World Cup and UEFA Super Cup but never got along with demanding coach Guardiola.

Ibrahimovic was cruel to Pep Guardiola in his no-holds-barred book, with concerns raised about how one of the most accomplished managers in the sport managed a larger-than-life figure who needed freedom and trust to thrive alongside Lionel Messi and Co.
