Portugal faced Turkey in the Group F game of the UEFA Euro 2024. Roberton Martinez's side won their first game against the Czech Republic in the final minute of the game. Turkey also edged out 2-1 in the game against Georgia. The latter side started the game better than the favourites of the tournament. Against the run of play, Portugal broke the deadlock in the 21st minute after Bernardo Silva met with the low drive cross of Nuno Mendes.
Turkey conceded the second goal amidst chaos after a miscommunication between defender Samet Akaydin and goalkeeper Altay Bayındır as the ball went inside the net and Portugal went 2-0 up within the first 30 minutes of the game. After the second goal, Cristiano Ronaldo's side got control of the game and switched the game with their tempo.
Turkey entered the tournament with poor form, having lost all five of their previous matches. They do, however, have a good squad, including Real Madrid's Arda Guler and Benfica's Orkun Kokcu, who are hoping to make a mark in this tournament and improve on their bottom-place record at Euro 2020.

Portugal looks to add more goals
Martinez was using two full-backs and three centre-backs in an unconventional formation to give support for both attack and defense. began well, but they lacked the innovative spirit necessary to reach the objective. In their last game, the side substitute Fransisco Conceicao got the decisive goal in the first minute of stoppage time and once again it was Hranac's mistake that led to the goal.
