Lionel Messi is arguably the greatest ever footballer of all time. The footballer has passed his prime and is currently participating in the Copa America 2024 for Argentina. The Argentine World Cup winner so far has not been at his very best in the tournament as he has provided with just one assist and is yet to find the back of the net. He failed to convert two golden opportunities in a 1v1 situation in the opening game against Canada.

In the second game against Chile, the footballer struck the post after his long-range effort went out striking the outside of the post. However ahead of that, he was tackled 25 minutes into the game after a tough challenge, and Argentina's physio was seen massaging Messi’s upper right leg soon after he suffered the knock. He was able to continue the game for 90 minutes. But the was being placed under medical scrutiny.

Ahead of the next group-stage match on Saturday against Peru, the 37-year-old footballer has given his comment on the injury. He believes that his adductor had got hard but he did not feel a tear. However, there was certain discomfort in the right groin and was rather difficult to move freely.

I was not loose in my head: Lionel Messi

The Inter Miami footballer said, "I was not loose in my head due to the discomfort in my adductor. I'm going to see how I am. The truth is it’s bothering me a little but I was able to finish the game, so I hope it’s nothing serious." The coach and the management might not be risking the footballer in the final group stage game as the reigning champions have already qualified for the knockout rounds of the tournament.

Lionel Scaloni said after the game that he did not have a word with the captain and further added, "He ended up playing through (until the end of the game). You saw he had the 50-meter sprint there… and it’s the last image I have (in my head). I can’t say more because I haven’t seen him.”
