Lionel Messi currently plays in Major League Soccer (MLS) for the club named Inter Miami. The Argentine has been playing in America after winning the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar. He left the top-tier league and has been enjoying his time playing in lower-level football with all his former teammates. The Argentine superstar will be next up in the upcoming Copa America for his country.

Ahead of the international break, in a game on Saturday night, the footballer was caught furious after the final whistle of the game. He, after exchanging the jersey with St Louis goalkeeper Roman Burki, furiously left the ground as he was upset with his team's 3-3 draw on the weekend. Despite the draw, they stand at the top of the table with two games more played than the 2nd position. In the ongoing season, they have been brilliant with Luis Suarez also joining his former teammate.

Messi and Suárez may miss at least five Inter Miami games throughout the tournament. Copa America runs from June 20 to July 14. And after Copa, Inter Miami could lose players again when national teams call for the Paris Olympics, which run from July 26 to August 11. However, they will have the back of the senior footballers like Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba.

Messi sets new milestone

He, on the weekend, became the fastest player in MLS history to score 25 goals. Messi broke the previous record of 16 games set by LAFC's Carlos Vela during his Landon Donovan MLS MVP-winning 2019 season, with 12 goals and 13 assists. The 36-year-old footballer now has 12 goals and 13 assists in only 12 games this season after scoring and assisting in the first half today.

Only four other players have had at least 12 goals and 12 assists in a single season since 2020. He will look to add some more to his bag. However, the South American top scorer will be looking to defend the Copa America and add one more trophy to his most decorated cabinet.
