Joshua Zirkzee, Alejandro Garnacho's Manchester United teammate, was unintentionally offside, which resulted in the goal being called out against Brighton. Ten minutes later, Garnacho believed he had provided his team the lead after Amad Diallo cancelled out Danny Welbeck's first-half strike against his former club.

But when he struck from the narrowest of angles, his shot was deflected by teammate and summer hire Zirkzee, who just so happened to be a few centimeters from the goalline and in an offside position. The goal was disallowed following a protracted VAR review, and the score at the Amex stadium on Saturday was once again 1-1.

Replays in slow motion demonstrated that Zirkzee's knee came within a hair's breadth of the line. To make matters worse, VAR had to declare him offside and nullify the goal because he was just ahead of Garnacho as he took the shot.

Zirkzee, who last week beat Fulham on his debut and scored the game-winning goal, responded right away as though he understood he had screwed up the Garnacho strike. Thus, his teammate stood up, confused and sad inside the goal as the Argentine turned away in jubilation.

Joao Pedro grabs last-gasp winner for Brighton & Hove Albion

However, Joao Pedro knocked the ball towards the bottom left corner past Andre Onana after being left unmarked inside the penalty box by a Brighton cross, causing Ten Hag and United to suffer a late heartbreak.

United was destined to fail to their first Premier League loss of the season as the visitors ran out of time to retake the game at the Amex Stadium.

Joao Pedro spoke to the media after the game against Manchester United. He said, “First I'm very happy for the win. I think this goal at the end shows how much we wanted to win the game, first game at home against a big team. I cannot feel better than today. I think the team did well."
