Manchester United made a huge comeback to defeat 10-man Lyon in the UEFA Europa League. With the help of Harry Maguire, the Red Devils secured one of the most spectacular wins in Old Trafford’s history on European nights. Ahead of the game against Lyon, Manchester United suffered their worst defeat in the Premier League by Newcastle United just a few days before the match. The second leg of the UEFA Europa League took place at Old Trafford, and this was the only chance for United to make a comeback.

As the game started, Lyon had already begun to celebrate for a dream comeback after falling 2-0 and then put the team ahead for a win by 3-2 in extra time. But United staged one of their famous comebacks to win in a last-ditch effort, securing the match 5-4 on the evening and 7-6 overall. Most supporters would consider themselves fortunate to see just one thrilling comeback in a crucial European match, as Harry Maguire netted the ball into the net in the last minute of extra time.

Manchester United scored the first goal in the tenth minute as Noussair Mazraoui gave Manuel Ugarte a good pass to put his name on the scoring sheet. Before halftime, Amorim's team maintained their lead and doubled it thanks to a long pass from Harry Maguire that was slotted in by right-back Diogo Dalot. United came roaring back, with Harry Maguire, the improbable redemption hero, scoring the game-winning goal spectacularly, Kobbie Mainoo finishing off a brilliant play with style, and Bruno Fernandes converting a penalty.

Manchester United gets closer to winning UEFA Europa League trophy  

 After a dramatic 5–4 victory that evening, United defeated Olympique Lyon 7-6 on aggregate as they advance to the semi-finals and will play Athletic Club. UEFA Europa League trophy is their only hope to win silverware this season, and the chances are still alive. Under Ruben Amorim, United are struggling in the Premier League as they stand in 14th place in the league table.
