On a one-kilometer course located at the base of the Eiffel Tower, the competitors finished the 20 kilometers. A lead group of four broke away from the field with three kilometers remaining as they fought for the podium.

He said after the race that, "In the last few metres, I realised I was completely alone, and seeing the finish line I just kept thinking, I'm the Olympic champion, it's me."

Who won the Women’s 20km race walk event at Paris Olympics 2024?

After breaking away after just 5km, Yang Jiayu of China put on an impressive show to win gold in the women's event. Her time of 1:25.54 put her in front of Australia's Jemima Montag, who grabbed the bronze in 1:26.25, and Spain's Maria Perez, who nabbed the silver in 1:26.19.

Jemima said, "In Tokyo, I was penalised in the backstretch when I was fighting for this medal, and it was a pity that I didn't get on the podium. For the past three years,I’ve tried my best to bloom in Paris for this Olympics, I’m glad I did. It was never mentioned in previous interviews. But I promised him before that I would stand on the top podium, and then today I did it."
