Cristiano Ronaldo was heartbroken after losing in the final of the King's Cup against Al-Hilal. The Portuguese footballer recently achieved a new milestone at the Saudi Pro League by breaking the record for most goals in a single season, as he scored 35 goals in the 2023/24 season surpassing the previous record of Abderrazak Hamdallah who previously scored 34 in the 2018/19 season.

He was disappointed after losing the final as the experienced forward ended a second successive season in Saudi Arabia without any major silverware on Friday. CR7 was seen crying after the final whistle and left the field in tears. The footballer had an excellent individual season, but he missed out on the silverware. Al Hilal once again washed out the dreams of their arch-rivals in another final as they won the game 5-4 on penalties.

Aleksandar Mitrovic gave Al-Hilal ahead after seven minutes. However, Al Nassr's fates turned out worse after goalkeeper David Ospina was shown a direct red in the early stage of the second half as the Colombian international handled the ball outside the box. Then Al Hilal was also reduced to 10 men after 86 minutes when Ali Al-Bulaihi headbutted Sami Al-Najei.

Yet another heartbreak for Ronaldo

Ronaldo's side quickly took the advantage and equalised in the dying minutes of the game. Al-Hilal was down to 9 as Kalidou Koulibaly was also sent off in the 91st minute of the game. Then the game went on to extra time, supposedly there was no goal and the game was decided on penalties.

Ruben Neves missed Hilal's opening shot, as did former Manchester United defender Alex Telles for Al-Nassr. The 39-year-old striker then scored from the spot, however it was not enough to take his team win the trophy as Morocco's World Cup hero

Yassine Bounou made two back-to-back saves to win the game for his side Al Hilal. The star striker will next be seen in the upcoming UEFA Euro 2024 for the national side.
