Atletico Madrid, Conor Gallagher's new team, has given him the moniker "pitbull." The England midfielder, who ultimately closed a £33 million agreement to leave Chelsea, inked a five-year contract with the La Liga team. For a reported £45 million, Portugal star Joao Felix left for a different team, but it's clear who received a more lavish introduction.

Atletico first hinted to the signing of 24 year old Gallagher via the official social media accounts, using the caption "Beware of the pitbull."

Although the nickname was positively received by the club's supporters, there were other parallels made with their recent acquisition. Following his introduction to the Metropolitano Stadium crowd, Atletico also capitalized on his striking resemblance to Charles Hunnam, the actor best known for playing Jax Teller on the FX series Sons of Anarchy.

Posts featuring Gallagher on a motorcycle and a series poster were released by their media staff. Several Harley Davidson motorcycles emerged onto the field to greet the celebrity during his presentation. The number that Diego Simeone gave the player was also revealed to the public by Gallagher, who leaped around to reveal No. 4 on his back. Nonetheless, he acknowledged that it would require some time for him to overcome the language hurdle in Spain.

Conor Gallagher bids adieu to Chelsea

Gallagher had already left for Madrid this past week, but negotiations regarding a transfer broke down, so he had to take a plane back to the UK. After that, he was forced to train by himself at Chelsea until he was able to go to Spain and complete his transfer.

By posting a message on social media, Gallagher said that, “To everyone at Chelsea, thank you for making my dreams come true," he wrote on Instagram. "It's been an absolute honour every time I put on the shirt.”

The England International said, "It was a dream come true to captain the team on many occasions. I loved every moment. These memories will last forever. I appreciate all the love and support from the fans."
