Real Madrid continues to be in contention for the La Laliga title this season after they edged past Getafe 1-0. The reigning champions managed to seal victory after Arda Güler scored a stunner from outside the box.

Although the Galacticos didn't perform to their usual best, the new formation seemed to work better against hosts Getafe at Coliseum. The victory ensured the La Laliga trophy did not go out of limits for the Galacticos.

Real Madrid headed into the fixture with almost a second-fiddle team after the management decided to rest several key players ahead of the Copa del Rey finals scheduled on April 26. Still, the visitors managed to dominate most of the proceedings against a physical side like Getafe. 

In the absence of stars like Kylian Mbappe, Jude Bellingham, Antoine Rudiger, Luka Modric and Rodrygo, a young Turkish sensation rose up to the occasion to carry his side to victory. 

Turkish youngster Arda Guller scored a screamer from outside the box to help Real Madrid break the deadlock in the 26th minute. After netting the goal, the youngster decided to run towards club manager Carlo Ancelotti to celebrate his goal. The manager appeared pleased with Guler's performance and hugged him in elation.

However, in the last minute of the match, Getafe threatened to equalise and it was down to experienced goalkeeper Thibault Courtois to save the Galacticos. He pulled off two brilliant saves in the stoppage time and ensured Madrid walked away with 3 points in their kitty.

Real Madrid's manager had been under the radar for giving fewer playing minutes to Arda Güler this season. The youngster had clocked only 1088 minutes for the Galacticos ever since he joined the club back in 2023. In the post-match interview, Carlo Ancelotti praised the quality Güler brings to the table. Ancelotti also asserted that Güler operates best playing as a midfielder.

Real Madrid signed the youngster in 2023 for a transfer fee of €20 million. Since then he has made 32 appearances for the club across competitions and has netted 7 goals. His goal helped Real Madrid consolidate their second position in the Laliga standings. The Galacticos now have 72 points in 33 matches.
