Following racist shouting directed at FC Barcelona striker Lamine Yamal during the teams' Saturday match, Real Madrid forward Vinicius Junior has expressed his support. Lamine Yamal scored one of the goals in Barca's 4-0 victory in the El Clasico. Still, the violent shouting that seemed to be coming from the Madrid supporters was a major discussion point after the game, prompting La Liga to launch an inquiry.

The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), Real Madrid, and La Liga have previously condemned the act in comments, and the situation is being investigated. Vinicius recently voiced his sadness about the treatment of Lamine Yamal, Ansu Fati, and Raphinha in a strong message that was circulated on social media.

Vinicius, who has frequently been the target of opposition supporters in the same shameful manner, has now posted on social media to denounce the chanting, naming Ansu Fati and Raphinha among those involved. "It's regrettable what happened yesterday at the Bernabeu with racist insults," he wrote on X. "There is no place for these criminals in out societ. All my support to Lamine, Ansu, and Raphinha. I know that Madrid and the police will do the things (necessary) to identify and punish the guilty!"

Vinicius Jr experienced racial taunts

In contrast to La Liga leaders who have said there hasn't been a pervasive issue, Vinicius Jr has consistently spoken out against people who have been abusive and uttered racist chants within the stadium. He has also discussed the matter with FIFA in the past.

Since joining Spanish football in 2018, Vinicius has experienced racial taunts. After experiencing racist situations in La Liga many times, the Brazilian winger has emerged as a key player in the battle against racism in sport. Three Valencia supporters who harassed Vinicius based on his race were sentenced to eight months in jail last summer, marking the first convictions for such offenses in Spain.

A supporter of Mallorca was also found guilty in September of racially assaulting the Real Madrid winger. This supporter received a 12-month suspended jail term, with the requirement that they apologize and participate in an anti-discrimination program. Barcelona now leads Real Madrid by six points at the top of La Liga after their 4-0 victory.
