Former Manchester City legend and recently fired Burnley manager Vincent Kompany has been given charge of Bayern Munich. The Bundesliga giants had parted ways with Thomas Tuchel as the Bavarian side finished the season second to Bayer Leverkusen and lost their grip over the Bundesliga title.

On Wednesday the announcement of Vincent Kompany taking charge of Bayern Munich was formally revealed on the club’s social media handle. The 38-year-old has been given a three-year contract to get them back to winning ways.

Vincent Kompany in his first press conference said how he wants to bring Bayern Munich back to winning ways. The former Belgian star also said “I look forward to this challenge at Bayern, It is an honour to work for this club. Bayern are an institution in world football”

Vincent Kompany shares his future vision

In his very first interaction with the press, Vincent Kompany has shared his vision for Bayern Munich. The 38-year-old said that he wants his team to be attacking play with purpose and keep the pressure on the opposition.

“As a coach, you just have to like your personality. I love having possession and also being creative and we also have to be aggressive and courageous on the pitch”. Vincent Kompany also stressed the fact that he loves to see his team press higher on the pitch and take the game into the opposition’s final half.

There were talks of Julian Nagelsmann being in the fray for the Bayern job while other names like Xabi Alonso too were being spoken about. Bayern Munich though decided to take a punt with Vincent Kompany who saw his Burnley side get relegated to the championship.

Vincent Kompany had a distinguished career with Manchester City where he made them into the force that they are today. His first foray into the dugout was with his home side club Anderlecht but his stint as the player and manager was short-lived. After he retired from the game, he moved back to England where he signed for Burnley.

The very next season he led his team to the Championship title and led them to a promotion to the Premier League. His return to the top flight of English football wasn’t pleasant as Burnley finished 19th in the table with 24 points from 38 games.
