Real Madrid hosted Manchester City in the 1st leg of the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals. Pep Guardiola's side opened the scoring in the two minutes of the game with Bernardo Silva scoring a low free-kick that caught Madrid goalkeeper Andriy Lunin off the post and ended up in the back of the net. The Los Blancos played their usual low block counter attack with Eduardo Camavinga got lucky with his shot that got hit to City's captain Rúben Dias and got deflected into the net. Another counter attack led Rodrygo giving the lead with slightest of deflection ending up in the net.

City started the second half better, amidst all the pressure from the home crowd they were looking for the one moment of brilliance from any player and who other than Phil Foden who scored the equaliser as the English winger who has been in red hot form curled one back from outside the box and ended up in the top corner. Minutes later Joško Gvardiol scored a screamer as the left-back took a curling shot and the ball went inside the net making the score 3-2. But Federico Valverde's brilliant volley cancelled out the lead for the visitors.

Here are the ratings of the match:

Real Madrid

Andriy Lunin-5

Lunin despite saving some good shots was not at his best as the first goal he conceded was simply his mistake as he was caught off the goal.

Carvajal was brilliant against the likes of Jack Grealish. The club captain did not let the English winger to get some space down the right hand side and made some crucial block and interceptions as well.

Aurelien Tchouameni-8

Tchoumeni was exceptional in his new role this season and once again he proved as he kept the likes of Rodri, Bernardo Silva and Foden quiet and did not let them go past him.

Antonio Rudiger-9

Antonio Rudiger did excatly the same against Erling Haaland what he did in the last year's semi-final. The German centre back was always on toes with the forward and did not allow a inch space to the Norweign striker to turn and shoot or head in the box.

Ferland Mendy-7.5

Mendy was brilliant with defensive and attacking task. The left-back kept Foden quiet for most of the time and did not let him go past him. He gave made some attacking contributions as well.

Eduardo Camavinga-8

Camavinga was brilliant as he was the equally good in his defensive and attacking ability. His long range effort ended up deflecting Ruben Dias and went in the back of the net.

Kross did not had the much of the game and was decent all the time and could not find his groove.

Federico Valverde-7

The Uruguyan scored the late equaliser for his home side by striking a volleyy from the cross of Vinicius. Valverde had a good time in midfield and controlled the tempo of the game.

Vinicius Jr- 7.5

Vinicius was the star for setting up the two goals for the side. The Brazilian winger himself failed to score but he made sure of assisting twice in the crucial game.
