UEFA Champions League 2023-24 Match Ratings: Paris Saint-Germain vs FC Barcelona quarter-final 1st leg

Paris Saint-Germain faced off FC Barcelona in the all important UEFA Champions League quarter-final 1st leg. The home side never looked into the game as the Blaugranes kept on the pressure for most of the time.

Paris Saint-Germain faced off FC Barcelona in the all important UEFA Champions League quarter-final 1st leg. The home side never looked into the game as the Blaugranes kept on the pressure for most of the time. They kept on testing the high line of PSG with the ariel through balls from the defence and midfield areas. Robert Lewandowski who snatched a ball in the middle of the park and created the attack that led Lamine Yamal to make a dangerous through ball with Raphinha breaking the deadlock.

The second half had a complete turn around with PSG scoring an early goal as Ousmane Dembele and soon after the first Vitinha scored the second. Then Raphina again scored making 2-2 for the side from a delightful ball from Pedri after coming off the bench. Andreas Christensen scored the winner in the 77th minute of the game.

Paris Saint-Germain 

Gianluigi Donnarumma- 6.5

The Italian shot stopper did not had the best of times, though he made some good saves but the team conceded the 2nd goal after he failed to clear out the ball properly. 

Marquinhos- 5.5

The club captain had a tough time dealing Raphinha in the first half with the amount of pace he got and he failed to mark Andreas Christensen who came and scored the third for Barca. 

Lucas Beraldo- 6

Beraldo was not upto his best as he had tough times against Lewandowski and Raphinha in the box and the 20-year-old will learn from the mistakes he made tonight. 

Nuno Mendes- 8.5

The Portuguese full back was excellent throughout the game and had some brilliant shots and made dangerous runs but failed to find the opening. 

Lucas Hernandez-  6

The French left-back had fair game and made some good interceptions, but could not win any ariel duels with the Barca no.9. 

Vitinha-  7

Despite scoring the 2nd goal of the game he failed to control the tempo of the game and got a card as well while stopping Joao Felix to get past him during a counter attack. 

Fabian Ruiz-  6

The Spanish midfielder had a decent game as he could not control the midfield against De Jong and Gundogan. He tried some shots from outside the box which either went wide or was blocked.

Lee Kang-in- 6.5 

The South Korean tried to control the middle of the park in the second half and let the ball for the second goal as well. 

Ousmane Dembele- 7

Dembele was brilliant in the second half of the game he switched side and that helped him scoring the equaliser against his former club. 

Marco Asensio- 5.5 

Asensio was mere spectator in the first half of the game, as the former Real Madrid foward touched the ball barely in the attacking third. 

Kylian Mbappe- 6

Mbappe was mere spectator in the first half as his traditional runs down the wing was stopped and blocked by the Barca defenders. He could hardly get any shot towards the Blaugranes goalkeeper.

Barcola was brilliant since he came on and made one crucial block from Pedri's ball towards Ferran Torres otherwise it could have ended in the back of the net.

Stegen was decent as he conceded two goals which should have been saved according to his standards. 

Ronald Araújo- 8

The Uruguyan defender was absolutely at his best as he kept Kylian Mbappe silent for most of the game and did not allow him a single amount of space down the middle. 

Jules Koundé-  7.5 

Koundé had a fantastic outing with Mbappe and Dembele operating from his side he did not fumble despite the pace and skills of both the wingers. 

Pau Cubarsi-  7.5

Cubarsi was good with his blocking and made some crucial blocks inside the box and kept 

João Cancelo- 7

Cancelo was brilliant in the left-back position as the full back caused problems for Marquinhos with his pace but failed to score the goal 

Sergi Roberto-  6

Roberto had decent outing as the captain will miss the the 2nd leg after conceding a yellow card and was taking of in the hour mark. 

Frenkie de Jong- 7

The Dutch midfielder was decent as he came back from an ankle injury and controlled the tempo of the in the first half and closed down the PSG midfield as well. 

İlkay Gündoğan- 7.5

Gündoğan has the devilish kind of mindset. The German midfielder made some good third man moves into the box and dictated the midfield as usual. He also assisted Barca's third goal. 

Robert Lewandowski- 7.5 

Lewandowski was the main man for Barca for the opener as he set it up to Lamine Yamal after picking up a the ball in midfield. But he failed to find the goal himself.  

Raphinha- 9

Raphinha was brilliant from the start of the game he was clinical with his finishing on the night scoring a brace for his side, was had the most impact in the game. 

Lamine Yamal- 6.5

Yamal did assist the first goal, but he could not have the best of his game with Nuno Mendes marked him really well in 1v1 situations. But the 16-year-old will learn from the mistakes he made on the night.
