Manchester City hosted Real Madrid at the Etihad Stadium of the 2nd leg UEFA Champions League quarter-finals. The first leg was 6 goal thriller ending in a 3-3 draw as the fans saw some world class goals at the Santiago Bernabeu. The visitors after soaking in the pressure broke the deadlock against the run of play with Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo combining once again as the later scored in the 12th minute of the game. Erling Haaland had good first half and would be scratching his head after his header struck the cross-bar.  

The second half went in City's favour as they kept on piling the pressure with Jeremy Doku assisting Kevin De Bruyne after coming off from the bench. The game went on to the penalties and Madrid keeper Andriy Lunin made double saves to take his team to the semi-finals of the UCL with the score 4-3 on penalties.

Manchester City 

Ederson- 7

Not have to make any saves in the match, but saved the first penalty of the game as he denied Luka Modric. But failed to save any other penalties. 

Kyle Walker- 7.5

Was caught out of position during the first goal but later on had some good 1v1 duels with Vinicius Junior and got the better of him everytime with his physical presence and speed. 

Manuel Akanji- 7

Akanji was brilliantly paired up Dias as he well marked Rodrygo in the second half of the game. 

Ruben Dias- 7.5

Dias was excellent in the back as he after conceding the first did not let any kind of space for the Madrid side to get into 

Josko Gvardiol- 7

Gvardiol was brilliant in the left-back checking on the runs of Valverde, though was caught out of position during the first goal but contributed in the attacking half as well. 

Rodri-7.5

The Spanish midfielder was excellent in the middle of the park and dictating the tempo of the game for the side. 

Kevin De Bruyne-9

De Bruyne was the best man for the home side as he created some dangerous chances for the side and scoring the all important equaliser for the side. However missed one golden opportunity from inside the box to put his side ahead. 

Phil Foden-6.5

Foden was well marked and he switched side and came in a lot more central position playing a No.10 role tried some shots outside the box but failed to keep on target. 

Bernardo Silva-7

Silva was good with ball in the wings and the central areas as well creating some chances for the side. He struck the penalty straight to the keeper. 

Jack Grealish-6 

Grealish was not upto his best despite playing more than an hour he failed to get the better of Dani Carvajal and was taken off. 

Erling Haaland-6

Haaland had a much better game than the first leg had the chances of scoring as well but failed as he was denied by the cross bar and was taken off during the extra time.

Doku was the difference maker since he came on had good time down the wing and was brilliant against Carvajal and assisted De Bruyne for the equaliser.

The Argentine had some good movements and was good off the ball as well helping the side with his fresh legs in the extra time.

Kovacic came in the extra time of the game as he had a decent time in the middle of the park but missed an all important penalty.

Real Madrid

Andriy Lunin- 9

Lunin made some excellent saves to keep the game level. He made two back to back saves in the shootout and carried his team to the last four of the game. 

Dani Carvajal- 7.5

The Spanish full back had a good time at the back marking Grealish but struggled against Jeremy Doku after he came on, however blocked some shots taken by him and was taken off during the extra time. 

Antonio Rudiger- 7

He was rock solid at the back untill De Bruyne found the leveller. He had the best chance in the first half of the extra time of putting his side into the lead but failed.

Nacho Fernandez- 5

Nacho was decent throughout the game as he had tough times keeping Haaland out of the game. 

Ferland Mendy- 6.5

Mendy was poor in the wing despite marking Foden well he fumbled at times creating chances for the side. 

Toni Kroos- 5.5

Kroos played in a much deeper role, than he plays in the middle of the park, was not much involved in  the game and was subbed off. 

Federico Valverde-6

Valverde was brilliant with the ball making those devilish runs behind the attacking line. But off the ball was much decent while caught out of positions. 

Eduardo Camavinga-6.5

The Frenchman was off the whole game carried some balls in the attacking third but failed to deliver the final pass to the attackers. 

Rodrygo- 7

Rodrygo except for the goal did not have much time on the ball and failed to create any problems for the City defence. 

Jude Bellingham- 5

He had a difficult time in the midfield and could not create much of the chance after setting up the ball for the first goal. 

Vinicius Junior-5.5

The Brazilian was not upto the mark as he had not much space to run into and except for the one assist he was quiet for the whole game.
