Borussia Dortmund hosted Atletico Madrid in the 2nd leg of the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals at Signal Iduna Park. The German side came into the fixture trailing 1-2. The home side started excatly the way they needed as they as they scored 2 goals in the first half. With Julian Brandt breaking the deadlock at the 34th minute and Ian Maasten doing the icing on the cake five minutes later making it 3-2 on aggregate.

Here are the Match ratings:

Borussia Dortmund

Gregor Kobel-6

Was hardly tested in the first half and was unlucky to be defeated by an unintentional own goal. There was little he could do about the second.

Julian Ryerson-6

The full-back put in a strong defensive performance, giving Atletico little to work with down the right side. Emre Can – 6

 Mats Hummels- 7.5

The experienced defence rarely made a mistake, but when he did, the consequences were severe. In the second half, all he could do was watch as his clearance attempt rebounded into his own nett.

Nico Schlotterbeck-7

The German international delivers an assured performance. Was assured on the ball and ensured that Alvaro Morata had a hard evening at the Signal Iduna.

Ian Maatsen-7.5

The left-back put up an outstanding display. He was energetic in the first half and scored a spectacular goal to give them the lead in the match. Faded after the break.

Marcel Sabitzer-8.5

Austrian international delivers a fantastic performance. After recording two assists, he scored a world-class goal to give the hosts the lead in the tie.

Emre Can-7.5

The former Liverpool player was a calm presence in the middle of the park for Edin Terzic's team, and he handled the game effectively after Dortmund took the lead.

Jadon Sancho-7

Another positive stride forward for the winger. Provided plenty of energy and appeared particularly dangerous in the first half.

Julian Brandt-8.5

Was the driving force behind Dortmund's onslaught at Signal Iduna Park. His beautifully-placed blow sparked the commotion, and from then on, everything went well for the German.

Karim Adeyemi-5

Looked active in the Dortmund front line, but struggled to deliver a final ball before being replaced in the second half.

Niclas Fullkrug-7

Was quiet for most of the game before popping up with a spectacular header to get Dortmund back into the tie.

Atletico Madrid

Jan Oblak4.5

The Atletico veteran delivered a rare poor performance. Could have done better for two of Dortmund's goals that night.

Axel Witsel-5

He struggled on his comeback to Dortmund. Was undone several times and was unsteady with the ball at his feet.

Jose Gimenez-6.5

The best in the sloppy defense of the visitors. He showed his experience on multiple occasions and was unlucky to see his team concede so many.

Mario Hermoso-5

His header bounced off Hummels and into the Dortmund goal, but the Spaniard otherwise had a pretty poor performance.

Nahuel Molina-4.5

The Argentine did not have the best of games on Tuesday as he failed to dealing with Maasten and Karim Adyemi and was caught twice on his side as the two goals were scored from his side only.

Cesar Azpilicueta-4

Azpilicueta who played at an unsual left-full back position had a decent game and struggled against Jadon Sancho and was taken off during half time.

Marcos Llorente-5

Played decently but failed to create any serious opportunities yet was unlucky to lose.

Koke-5.5

The Atletico captain had a good time to keep his team in the game, but Sabitzer and Brandt dominated from midfield.

Rodrigo De Paul-6

Struggled in the first half, but appeared much more confident in the second. Provided plenty of energy for Diego Simeone's team, but it wasn't enough.

Alvaro Morata-5.5

Alvaro Morata had the best of chances for the side in the first half after he failed to convert a 1v1 chance and put it wide past the Dortmund keeper.

Antoine Griezmann

The Frenchman appeared active after he received the ball, but this did not happen frequently enough by the home side. Faded away as the game progressed.
