The club rankings were changed by UEFA today in anticipation of the 2024–2025 season.

Roma's impressive recent performance has helped the Giallorossi to hold onto fifth place in the standings, behind elite teams like Manchester City, Liverpool, Bayern Munich, and Real Madrid.

The Giallorossi have amassed 90,000 points over the last four seasons: 24,000 in 2020–2021; 23,000 in 2022–2022; 22,000 in 2022–2023; and 21,000 in 2023–2024. Inter, ranked tenth with 76,000 points, is the other Italian team in the top 10. Atalanta is ranked twentieth (61,000), followed by Napoli (20,001), Milan (20,02) and Juventus (20,03). Lazio is ranked thirty-first (50,000), Fiorentina is ranked thirty-sixth (42,000), and Bologna is ranked eighty-ninth at zero.

In UEFA's club competitions, coefficients are used to establish draw seedings, and points are awarded according to a weighted methodology that is connected to continental results. Club rankings are calculated by taking into account the home association's coefficient over the prior four seasons in addition to your results; for the 2024–25 season, rankings are based on results from the 2020–21 campaign forward.

Who is top of the UEFA’s club rankings after the latest update?

Real Madrid rose to second position after winning the Champions League for the fifteenth time, whereas City is now in first spot for the second year in a row. Third and fourth place go to Bayern Munich and Liverpool, respectively, while Roma, who have had successful European runs this decade, are shockingly in fifth place. The remaining teams in the top ten are Chelsea, Inter, Borussia Dortmund, Villarreal, and Paris Saint-Germain. Manchester United is ranked fourteenth.

Beyond that, there are a few pretty odd, but well-deserved, ranks. West Ham United, the 2023 Conference League winners, are ranked 16th, closely followed by Atletico Madrid (17th), Barcelona (18th), and Arsenal (19th). Tottenham Hotspur, who finished 45th overall after missing away on European football the previous season and not making any trips to the later stages of the competition, is one of the most unexpected placements. Olympiacos (44th) and Kobenhavn (46th), the newest Conference League holders, are positioned between them.
