Post Messi’s departure from Barcelona, the club’s transfer strategies have been under scrutiny. Messi was part of a fearsome front three for Barcelona which dominated Europe for four years and even went on to win the treble in 2016. However, Barcelona took a hit when Messi moved to Paris Saint-Germain which Blaugrana didn’t want.

To make matters worse, the Galacticos won the Champions League trophy and La Liga in only one season which made Barcelona desperate for titles. Therefore, they shifted their focus from grooming their academy products to signing fringe players for millions who didn’t pay many dividends to them.

Despite all of this, Barcelona have made some decent signings, but they need an upgrade and reinforcement for the upcoming season.

Here are the top 5 players whom Barcelona could sign in 2024:

5) Giovani Lo Celso

Giovani lo Celso

Losing Gavi to a long-term injury has been a big blow to Barcelona which is why they have been in touch with Spurs midfielder Giovani Lo Celso for some time now.  Xavi has an affinity for Lo Celso and since he has been looking for midfielders this season, Lo Celso will be one of their prominent targets for this season.

Lo Celso has performed decently for the Spurs lately and has played a significant role in their success in the Premier League even though his contract with the club will expire in 2025 and they might not offer him a fresh contract. Barcelona is in talks with the player’s representatives, and we could see his move to Barcelona this season.

4) Amadau Onana

Amadou Onana

Amadou Onana is another mid-fielder who is currently in the news for his possible move to Barcelona from Everton. He has been among the top performers for Everton as a defensive midfielder and many prominent European clubs are eyeing to get him by his side.

Barcelona have still not been able to fill the void left by legendary Sergio Busquets and their experiment with summer signing Oriol Romeu hasn’t paid many dividends which is why they are eyeing to get Amandau Onana into their team.

3) Jorginho

Jorginho was signed by Arsenal last January. At first, it looked like a peculiar signing but eventually proved to be a fruitful one as he bolstered Arsenal’s central midfield. However, things went south for him eventually as a chain of mistakes committed by him hampered his season.

As his contract with Arsenal is soon to expire, he could be a decent pick for Barcelona as he is a tough mid-fielder who can set the tempo of the match alongside Frenkie de Jong.

2) Aleix Garcia

Aleix Garcia

Aleix Garcia has been one of the top players of La Liga this season and Barcelona would be hoping to sign him for the upcoming season. Barcelona are fully committed to strengthening their midfield this season and have marked some possible contenders for the spot and Garcia is amongst one of them.

Aleix Garcia has featured in all 19 matches for Girona in the season and netted 3 goals along with 4 assists to take his side to the 2nd spot in the league’s table. According to many, Garcia is among the most talented players scouted by Barcelona and is expected to be signed by them this season.

1) Bernardo Silva

Bernardo Silva is among the top runners who could make a move to Barcelona this year. In the last Premier League season, Manchester United successfully defended their title and the 28-year-old played a vital role in them doing so. The Man City mid-fielder scored 13 goals across all competitions for the club.

Barcelona is looking for him as a potential replacement for Frenkie de Jong and de Silva has also intimated to his agent Jorge Mendis regarding his intention to move to Barcelona.
