In the second level of the Nations League on Friday, October 10, at Wembley, England, the finalists for Euro 2024, lost humiliatingly 2-1 to Greece after giving up a goal in stoppage time. Saka was also lost to injury for the English team. Thomas Tuchel, the former manager of Bayern Munich, is reportedly in negotiations with England to take over as the Three Lions' new manager.

Since Gareth Southgate resigned during Euro 2024, Tuchel has been without any job of managing a club since leaving Bayern in the summer have often been mentioned as a potential contender for the England position. In his managerial career, he has led Paris Saint-Germain to many trophies including the Champions League with Chelsea.

The former manager of Chelsea, PSG, and Borussia Dortmund is reportedly in "advanced negotiations" and an agreement to replace interim manager Lee Carsley "quickly" might be reached. Moving up from the U21s, Lee Carsley is now the acting manager of England. He won his opening two matches, but on Thursday his team lost humiliatingly 2-1 to Greece in the Nations League.

Having stated that he will "hopefully" return to coach the under-21s, Carsley raised doubts about his England future by claiming that the Greece loss would "almost no impact" on his prospects of securing a permanent senior post. Prior to Gareth Southgate's successful nearly eight-year tenure as England's manager, Tuchel was connected to the position. It is unclear if the Football Association will make an effort to hire Thomas Tuchel.

Thomas Tuchel had talks with Manchester United

It is said that throughout the summer, Tuchel had conversations with Manchester United as co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his recruitment staff discussed Erik Ten Hag's replacement. Ten Hag was under pressure even though the Red Devils chose to stick with him after all since they had only won two of their first seven Premier League games.

While all of this talk over Carsley's future and beyond, on Sunday night, England will play their fourth League B Group 2 encounter away in Finland, returning to Nations League participation. The third foreign manager to lead this national team would be Thomas Tuchel, should he be appointed as the new manager of England.
