Real Madrid star Dani Carvajal has made a huge claim on Lionel Messi’s two Ballon D’ Or title wins. According to the Spanish star, the Argentine didn’t deserve to win at least two titles and should have gone to someone else.

“It’s true that Rodri could have easily won the 2023 Ballon d’Or. And in 2010, when Spain won the World Cup, a Spaniard deserved it. Or Michael Owen’s 2001 Ballon D’ Or which should have gone to Raul,” he said.

Lionel Messi has won the title 8 times, with former Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo second on the list with 5 wins. The two stars had long been in a feud for the best footballer of the current era during their long and illustrious careers.

Argentina set to play Ecuador in Copa America Quarterfinals

Lionel Messi and his Argentina side will take on Ecuador in the Final 8 stage of the Copa America 2024 campaign. The defending FIFA World Cup winners won all three matches in their group phase.

Argentina first beat Canada by a 2-0 margin, before beating Peru and Chile in their next two games. Lautaro Martinez has been at the top of his form with 4 goals from three matches he has played so far.

Spain, on the other hand, has made it to the final 8 of the Euro 2024 tournament after their comprehensive 4-1 win over Georgia. The Georgian side took the lead thanks to an own goal by Robin Le Normand.

Rodri and Fabian Ruiz made it 2-1 before goals by Nico Williams and Dani Olmo won the game for the Spaniards. It was an impressive performance from the La Roja side as they looked at their fiery best in the park.

Meanwhile, Lionel Messi wasn’t part of the win over Peru. Striker Lautaro Martinez said, “Leo is fine, we hope he can be in the next game. I dedicated the goal to him because I know what Leo means to us." The fans, meanwhile, are waiting for Messi to come back and dazzle on the field once more.
