Now, as Ruben Amorim’s side prepare to face arch-rivals Manchester City in this season’s first ‘Manchester Derby,’ there is a possibility of Lammens making his debut straight in the derby clash.
While speaking to Sky Sports, Scholes claimed that it would be a huge task for the young goalkeeper if he is handed a debut in the derby.
“I do actually think it’d be tough for any lad to go into that game, but you have to start somewhere,” he said. “He needs confidence given to him straight away. He is coming into a team that concedes chances, so it’s gonna be difficult for him. But again, it’s a platform for him to show how good he is.”
“This is my dream move." - Lammens
Talking about Lammens, the 23-year-old goalkeeper sounded excited after signing for United. In his interview with MUTV, he called the move his “dream move.”
“This is my dream move. When I was five, United was at the height of football and you keep in your memory how big Manchester United is, so, when I heard they were interested, it was like a childhood dream,” he said.
He also called United one of the biggest clubs in the world and shared his aim to help the team return to the Champions League.

“I remember being a kid, Manchester United winning the Champions League and winning the league, and also [I want] to help the team get to a level that you can compete for a title again and to play Champions League again. That’s also one of my biggest points, that I want to grow with the team and go up to the heights that used to be Manchester United. It’s one of the biggest clubs in the world and the Premier League is the biggest competition in the world,” Lammens added.
