Manchester City are the current champions of the English Premier League. The Sky Blues have been dominating the English football for several years now. However the club has been accused of gaining an unfair advantage over other City Football Group-owned clubs, and the repercussions could be problematic. There were suspected disparities in how much Manchester City paid manager Roberto Mancini from 2009 to 2013 and various players from 2010 to 2016, salary numbers that the club is obligated to publish to the league.

Recently, a hacker named Rui Pinto has claimed to have destroyed information against the English champions, some of which he has yet to provide to the football authorities. According to Sun the Portuguese said that he has access to hundreds of emails of the Cityzens, which suggests that the club intentionally cheated Financial Fair Play (FFP) charges hanging over their head. Man City are set to appear before a hearing on their case in November this year.

In 2018, they acquired access to thousands of Etihad emails and released some to the public, but they kept most of the records. The previously released financial documents include details of former manager Roberto Mancini's contract, image-rights agreements with Yaya Toure's agency, and emails detailing the club's sponsorship money.

The Man City releases showed amounts of money: Rui Pinto

The 35-year-old hacker speaking to the OffShore-Alert Marbella Conference said, "The Man City releases showed amounts of money being paid into by the club that was not mentioned to the football authorities. These documents are from part of the Premier League investigation into City. I have now handed five hard drives to French and German authorities with millions of documents, including more on City and I have described what is on each. I am confident they will find criminal relevancy."

The hacker's legal representative further added, "We have been approached by investigators to share information regarding Manchester City that has not been released before. We haven’t released the information yet but we have a massive file of Manchester City-related documents that have yet to be released."
