Former Wales midfielder Robbie Savage has thrown his weight behind Manchester City in the race for both the Premier League and Champions League titles. This comes as the 2023-24 season reaches its climax, with the battles for England's top trophy and Europe's most coveted club competition reaching a fever pitch.

Savage, a pundit known for his outspoken opinions, recently stated his belief on the "On Another Planet" podcast."I still think Manchester City will win the Premier League and also the Champions League," the 49-year-old said. This is a bold claim considering the current tight nature of both races. His prediction leans towards City's experience and Pep Guardiola's tactical prowess. City's experience in high-pressure situations could be crucial in the closing stages.

"Liverpool have the easiest run-in"

In the Premier League, Manchester City currently sits third, just one point behind Arsenal and Liverpool. All three teams boast impressive squads and have momentum on their side, making the final stretch of the season incredibly unpredictable.

Savage acknowledged the fact that Liverpool stands the best chance of winning the Premier League due to their fixtures ahead but still believed that City would defy the odds to lift the trophy. "I still think Manchester City will win the Premier League and also the Champions League. Liverpool have the easiest run-in in the Premier League and City and Arsenal are both still in the Champions League, so Liverpool are probably the favourites, but I still think City will win both,” he said.

One thing's for certain- Manchester City faces a monumental challenge if they are to achieve the double that Savage believes they can. They'll need to navigate a tightly contested Premier League while simultaneously battling Europe's elite in the Champions League. Only time will tell if Savage's prediction holds weight. But one thing is guaranteed and that is the fact that the climax of the 2023-24 season promises to be a thrilling spectacle for football fans worldwide.
