Premier League 2023-24 Match Ratings: Newcastle United vs Tottenham Hotspur, Match 32

Newcastle hit them on the counter twice with Alexander Isak breaking the deadlock in the 30th minute and a couple of minutes later it was Anthony Gordon who set up the first goal making it 2-0 in the first half.

Newcastle United faced off against Tottenham Hotspur on matchday 32 of the English Premier League (EPL) 2023-24 season. The last time the sides met at St. James Park, the home side was 5 goals up in 21 minutes of the game with the game ending in a 6-1 win for the Magpies. Eddie Howe's side started exactly the way they needed to, with a game of end-to-end football. The visitors had the two best chances but failed to convert. Newcastle hit them on the counter twice with Alexander Isak breaking the deadlock in the 30th minute and a couple of minutes later it was Anthony Gordon who set up the first goal making it 2-0 in the first half. 

They started the second half the same way with Isak making it 3-0 after a brilliant long ball from Bruno Guimaraes from inside his half leaving the Tottenham defence open.

Newcastle United

Martin Dubravka-7 

The Slovakian shot-stopper was harmless for most of the game, as he did not have to make any decisive saves in the game. He made one save in the dying minutes keeping a clean sheet as well. 

Jacob Murphy-8 

Murphy had a good time at the right-hand side with Werner as he was never troubled by the German and had the better of him always. 

Emil Krafth-7.5

Krafth had a brilliant game as he kept a clean sheet and made a good partnership with Schar in the back line keeping the Hotspur forwards silent.  

Fabian Schar-8 

Schar was sensational at the back as he did not let any striker go past him and scored the fourth goal as well. 

Dan Burn-7.5

Burn was brilliant at left-back he had a good time with Son and the better of him as well and also had a good battle with Brennan Johnson. 

Bruno Guimaraes-8 

The Brazilian made sure he controlled the midfield and delivered an excellent long ball that led to the third goal of the game. 

Sean Longstaf-6.5

Longstaff had a decent outing as he was overshadowed by the brilliance of his teammates. 

Elliot Anderson-7

Anderson had a good outing with him controlling the game throughout the game and playing the balls out wide to the wings. He had a chance of making it 4 for the side but was denied by Vicario.  

Harvey Barnes-8 

Harvey Barnes was brilliant on the right-hand side of the pitch. He was brilliant creating some chances and had a good time against Pedro Porro and Emerson Royal. 

Alexander Isak-9

Isak had a dream game as the forward scored two goals at St. James's Park and sealing the game for the side he had the chance of scoring the hat trick as well. 

Anthony Gordon-8

The winger was absolutely at his best as he created the first goal for his side was exceptional down the wing and scored one as well. He assisted two goals for the side.

Guglielmo Vicario-4

He had dismal show against the Magpies as he was indirectly linked for the second goal after he failed to clear his line leading a counter for the hosts.  

Pedro Porro- 5.5

Porro had a difficult game as the full back was troubled by Harvey Barnes and Isak in the right channel and was subbed off after he picked up an early injury in the second half. 

Cristian Romero-5.5

Romero had a decent outing blocking some crucial shots and keeping away Isak at some moment. 

Micky van de Ven-5

The Dutch defender had a nightmare in defence as he was unable to mark Alexander Isak, as the striker with pace and dancing feet created problems for him. 

Destiny Udogie-5

Udogie had a tough time with Harvey Barnes and was caught out of position during all the counter attacks of the home side. 

Yves Bissouma-5

Bissouma never had the control of the midfield as he failed to have an impact in the middle of the park and was caught out in several occassions and he picked up a yellow card as well. 

Rodrigo Bentancur-5

Bentancur had a difficult time against the Magpies midfielders and wingers as he could not control the temp of the game.  

James Maddison-6.5

Maddison was one of the star players for the visitors as the England international tried taking some shots and making some balls inside the box. 

Brennan Johnson-7

He was the star for the North London side, Breannan Johnson was all over the attacking half for the side he delivered some goal scoring balls but the stirker failed to convert them.

Son Heung-min- 4.5

Son was a mere spectator on the pitch as he failed to create any chances for the side. Thus was taken off near the hour mark of the game. 

Timo Werner-4

The German striker had the best chances in the first half as he missed two golden opportunites to score the goals and was off in the second half as well.

Royal despite coming from the bench did not have the best of times in the field and was caught out of position during the third goal of the game.
