Premier League 2023-24 Match Ratings: Chelsea vs Manchester United, Matchday 30

The football fans were rewarded to a goal-fest on Thursday night as Chelsea FC got a stunning 4-3 win against Manchester United at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea FC hosted Manchester United at Stamford Bridge on the 30th Matchday of the 2023-24 English Premier League season. It was a great game between the two fallen giants of the beautiful game. The match was end-to-end right from the start but Chelsea would be the more disappointed of the two teams as they had a 2-0 lead after the first 20 minutes of the match.

Both sets of teams had some of the best players playing for them and it showed in this encounter. Although, there were some horror shows in the encounter as well from some of the players and would look to forget this game as quickly as possible. Let’s take a look at the player ratings’ for the game between Chelsea FC and Manchester United

Chelsea: -

Dorde Petrovic - 5

The keeper was not good at all in this game as he should have made decisive saves in this game when his team required.

Malo Gusto - 7

The defender was the player who got the assist for the opening goal and was splendid throughout the game as he found a lot of spaces in the opposition half.

Axel Disasi - 7.5

He was one of the best defenders for the side in this game as he was able to get in some crucial interceptions for the side when needed and made some great runs in the midfield and attack as well. 

Benoit Badiashile - 5.5 

The centre-back was invisible throughout the game and could have made more efforts in stopping the Manchester United attacks. 

Marc Cucurella - 6.5

Even though it was a soft foul, Cucurella got the penalty for his side by getting into good positions in the attack. Overall, in the defence, he was not able to keep up with the pace of Antony and failed to catch-up to him.

Moises Caicedo - 4

It was a dismal showing from the marquee signing for Chelsea as he was at fault for the first goal for the opposition. He lost possession on several occasions and was nowhere near to his best. 

Enzo Fernandez - 6

The defensive midfielder was invisible throughout the first half and his anger issues after the first goal earned him a yellow card as well. 

Cole Palmer - 9.5

The winger has been in great form this season and continued that after putting away the penalty in the first half. He got a well-deserved hat-trick at the end of the game and won the game for his side. 

Connor Gallagher - 8

The midfielder opened the scoring in the game after a deflected pass found him and he made sure to find the back of the net. 

Mykhailo Mudryk - 6

The winger was not able to create enough chances from the left flank and could not trouble the opposition defenders at all. 

Nicolas Jackson - 6.5

The striker caused some problems with his pace but was unlucky to get a goal contribution for his side in this pulsating game. 

Substitutes: -

Raheem Sterling - 4.5

The English forward’s poor run of form against Manchester United continued as he could not register much in the attack for Chelsea after coming on.

Alfie Gilchrist - 5.5

The full-back was seen in the attack more often than not after coming on for Malo Gusto and was able to string some decent passes. 

Trevor Chalobah - 5

He was subbed on to bring some fresh legs in the defence to take on the full of pace Manchester United attackers. 

Carney Chukwuemeka - 5.5

The midfielder slotted in front of the defence in order to string the passes between the defence and the attack.  

Noni Madueke - 6

It was his attack that led to the penalty which got the decisive equaliser.

Manchester United: -

Andre Onana - 5

The goalkeeper was at fault for the first goal as he could have gotten the save and could not redeem himself by stopping the two penalties that were given away. His distribution was decent but could not string the saves when required the most 

Diogo Dalot - 7

Starting at his not-so-preferred left-back position, he was being troubled by Cole Palmer throughout the game. In the attack, he was more lethal as his brilliant cross helped the team get the equaliser and he earned an assist for his efforts. He was unfortunate to give away a penalty in the dying minutes of the game.

Harry Maguire - 6

The former Manchester United skipper was able to get in some great blocks but was getting beaten sometimes by the pace of the Chelsea forwards.

Raphael Varane - 6.5

It was Varane’s deflection that led to the opening goal for the opposition. However, it wasn’t his fault and was decent at the back with his great defensive awareness.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka - 7

The full-back was great in defence as he kept the left flank for Chelsea in check and was able to contribute as well in the attack.

Kobbie Mainoo - 6.5

The young English midfielder was key in nestling the passing in the midfield. He was able to dominate the Chelsea midfielders and was crucial in getting the ball forward for the team.

Casemiro - 5.5

Age is surely getting to the veteran defensive midfielder as he was not able to make the key interceptions in the attack when required. He was not able to keep up with the pace of the young Chelsea forwards but he was crucial in finding key passes in the attack. 

Bruno Fernandes - 7.5

The attacking midfielder was sluggish at the start but made up for it at the end of the first half by scoring the equaliser for the side in this game.

Antony - 6.5

The winger who was slotted into the playing XI, gave away the penalty and was not much dangerous in the attack as well in the first half. He got his first goal contribution in the Premier League this season as he assisted the third goal for his team.

Alejandro Garnacho - 9.5

The Argentina winger was the best forward for the Reds as he got the much needed opening goal for his side as well as the header for the team’s third goal. His control and maturity in the attack was helpful for the away team in this match.

Rasmus Hojlund - 6

The striker had a great chance in the second half on the attack but was unlucky not to register a goal or assist in this high-scoring encounter. He was later subbed out for

Jonny Evans - 6.5

The veteran came on in the second half in place of Raphael Varane and his experience was much-needed in the defence as he made some crucial interceptions for the side. Although, he was on the pitch only for 20 minutes as he suffered a niggle.

Marcus Rashford - 6

The English forward played at the number 9 position to get some more pace in the attack for the away side. 

Willy Kambwala - 5

The young defender was decent in the 30 minutes he played in this game and provided good support to the other players in the defence. 

Scott Mctominay - 6.5

The joint-top scorer for Manchester United was great in both defence and attack in the short time he got in this game.
