The Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) has announced that starting in January 2025, the Portuguese football, futsal, and beach football teams would be "dressed" by the German sports equipment manufacturer Puma. The entity's president, Fernando Gomes, confirmed a "long-term" collaboration with the corporation at a ceremony held at Cidade do Futebol in Oeiras. This agreement replaces Nike, which had been in charge of the team's uniform since 1997.

Fernando Gomes said, “We started working on this a year and three months ago. We were pleasantly surprised by Puma, we were thrilled and, after a long courtship, we understood that it would be a good marriage. Over the years, we have grown in national teams, from youth teams to women's teams.”

The FPF's head, whose tenure ends at the start of next year, wasn't specific about how long the deal will last, but he did say it would be in effect until 2030, when Portugal will host the World Cup alongside Spain and Morocco.

Gomes added, “It is the signing of a long-term contract for stability and protection of the investment. All the contracts we have signed in different areas run until or beyond 2030, and this one will not fail to respect this duration.”

“Associating with a top national team” : Puma CEO

The Puma CEO said, “Associating with a top national team was one of our priorities in soccer and I am very excited to have a team as popular as Portugal in the PUMA Family. Given the large number of Selecao fans around the world and the great potential of the new generation of players, we are looking forward to the next major tournaments, such as the 2026 World Cup.”

Since 1997, Nike has supplied Portugal's uniforms, and the American sportswear behemoths still have a deal with their top player, Cristiano Ronaldo. When the Al-Nassr superstar has played for Portugal, no one else has ever provided their match day kits.
