Napoli striker Victor Osimhen was previously targeted by Paris Saint-Germain as they made a decisive bid of €100 million (£85 million/$109 million) to test the club’s intention of selling the footballer. But as things stand they may have to re-evaluate their options surrounding talisman. Despite the club’s hopes to sell him this summer, there are no clubs since PSG that have shown their interest in signing the footballer.

According to Gazzetta, Napoli has yet to receive any good bids for him, putting the Italian club in a problematic situation as they struggle to keep up with his expensive salary. The 25-year-old agreed to a new contract with Napoli that would last until the summer of 2026, with a release clause estimated to be worth €120 million to 130 million. The most surprising fact is that no clubs from Saudi Arabia have also shown interest in buying the footballer for the upcoming season.

There were chances that the Premier League clubs would queue up for Osimhen. Arsenal, Manchester United, and Chelsea were all rumoured to be potential destinations for Osimhen, yet none have made a formal offer for the Nigerian striker. His annual salary is expected to be €10 million (£9 million/$11 million), places significant pressure on the club's wage bill and club president Aurelio De Laurentiis.

Napoli is desperate to offload Osimhen

It will be a difficult task for Antonio Conte who has been appointed as the new manager and has some other plans to bring in some signings for the money they will let go the No.9 in summer window. De Laurentiis, who was previously adamant about getting the full sum of Osimhen's release clause, is reportedly considering lowering the asking price.

This strategy adjustment is important to entice purchasers and reduce the club's financial load. The lower price is viewed as a pragmatic strategy to ensure a transaction can be reached, even if it means not reaching the originally anticipated financial target. With the transfer window open it will be interesting to see which clubs bid for the striker.
