Mikel Arteta shares update about star Arsenal winger after Manchester City game

But their star player Bukayo Saka was forced off in the second half of the game. He missed the two games during the international break against Brazil and Belgium.

Arsenal visited the Etihad Stadium to play a crucial game against Manchester City on Sunday. The Gunners were the league leaders before the important clash, after the 0-0 draw against City they have dropped down two points with Liverpool making a comeback win against Brighton. Arsenal have kept a clean sheet at City's home's stadium after almost 10 years. William Saliba was adjuged as Player of the Match for his excellent defensive display over a star studded attacking line-up of City.  

But their star player Bukayo Saka was forced off in the second half of the game. He missed the two games during the international break against Brazil and Belgium. Saka had a decent outing on Sunday, after the game Mikel Arteta revealed about why he changed the 22-year-old winger in the 78 minute of the game with Gabriel Martinelli. 

Though the game was end to end, the Gunners had a brilliant chance in the first half with Gabriel Jesus failed to score against his former club. The Brazilian hit the side net. They had one shot on target in the first 45 minutes with 27% of the possession.

Martin Odegaard happy with way Arsenal played

Club captain Martin Odegaard was happy with the team's performance but also believed they should have done more when they had the ball in their possession. The Norweign said, "I feel like we defended deep a bit more than we planned, so you win the ball and you’re tired." Arteta after the game said, that Saka had a little faigue and for the very same he did not trained with the team fully before the match and only practiced with the team a day before the game.

The head coach believes he had a huge contribution to the team but not fully fit to play the whole of 90 minutes. The Gunners are second in the Premier League with 65 points, two points behind Liverpool and one ahead of City. They have nine matches remaining to win their first league title in 20 years, playing Luton Town on Wednesday evening.
